THE CAPTAIN

The idea for The Captain comes from the concept of 'attitude' and how much our attitude plays a role in our overall happiness.  Even babies have problems, but of course, babies can't change their attitude.  Children can.  Here is the tale of an angry boy who sets sail in order to escape his problem.  As time passes his attitude changes.  He becomes aware of all the good there is to find in his situation and makes peace with it.  That makes all the difference.

The illustrator, found on Etsy, lives in Italy.  Elettra used digital art to create whimsical, colorful illustrations that brought Donald's sail to life.  Her artwork is delightful and it was a pleasure to collaborate.  She drew each image for my approval, changing it willingly if I asked her.  After coloring them, the result was final. Ultimately, we have an adventure story for all young readers.
